Sleeping Bag Reviews

Searching for sleeping bag reviews?

If your looking to find reviews on sleeping bags, you might want to read this page first. On this page I’ll talk about how to buy an appropriate sleeping bag for your particular needs. You’ll learn about the different types of sleeping bags, as well as some of the popular sleeping bags on the market right now.

Firstly, you should decide what you will use your sleeping bag for. Is this sleeping bag for in home use or will you be taking it out on camping trips. A sleeping bag used for in home use does not need to be as sturdy or warm as one used for outdoor use. In fact, you may find that an outdoor sleeping bag is simply too warm for indoor use.

One you’ve determined where you will be using your sleeping bag, you’ll need to determine what kind of temperatures you’ll be using your sleeping bag in. Remember that having a sleeping bag that is too warm can be just as dangerous as having a sleeping bag that is not warm enough.

When a sleeping bag is too warm it can cause a person to sweat while sleeping. This is bad because you will wake up wet and if it is not sunny enough to dry your sleeping bag, you’ll end up sleeping in a wet bag the next night.

Size should be another consideration when looking at sleeping bag reviews. You’ll want to focus on how much sleeping room is in the sleeping bag as well as how much space the bag takes up. This is especially true when looking at sleeping bag reviews for backpacking sleeping bags.

The best sleeping bags will meet these the criteria you lay out using the three issues I mentioned earlier.

Once you have established this, you can make your choice between models like mummy sleeping bags, standard sleeping bags, and even down sleeping bags.

Sleeping Bag Reviews

The standard sleeping bag will have a squared off opening at the top and you will typically zip it up to the just under neck. This way you can keep your head out of it and prevent steam from building up inside.

A down sleeping bag is usually very thick and comfortable, but lacks usability when hiking. This is because these bags do not compress well and would not fit well in a back pack.

Mummy sleeping bags are made from the same materials as standard sleeping bags, but are designed to cover more of your body. You can read more about them on my page on mummy sleeping bags.

Car Camping Bags

Car camping sleeping bags come in many different forms. The key difference in most of them is that they are not designed to be taken hiking. This means that while they may be warm and comfortable, they will not pack up tightly and will be heavier than a hiking sleeping bag. Expect these bags to weigh around seven pounds each. This might not seem like a lot, but on a hiking trip with all of your other gear, seven pounds is just too much.

Good Car Camping Sleeping Bags

These bags are all very comfortable and will easily accommodate even large men and women. Out of all three of these bags, I like the Teton Sports Bag the best.

This sleeping bag is rated for temperatures approaching zero degrees Fahrenheit and provides the option to turn the sleeping bag into a roomy mummy bag. They accomplish this by making a hood with a drawstring built into it at the top of the bag. You can also leave it undone for nights when the hood is not needed.
